What is a Smile Makeover?

Do you frequently find yourself covering your mouth when you smile? Are you hesitant to smile because you are embarrassed about the appearance of your teeth? Sadly, many people rarely smile due to self-consciousness over their teeth. If you are one of these people, then a smile makeover may be just what you need to capture the dazzling smile you've always wanted.

A smile makeover combines several cosmetic dentistry procedures to help you achieve a bright, beautiful smile. At your initial consultation, Dr. Wendling will evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, and jaw line in order to recommend an appropriate treatment plan to achieve your desired goals.

Your smile makeover can be as simple as a tooth whitening session that can be completed in one office visit. It can also take considerably longer if you need several procedures to accomplish your cosmetic goals.

If you have crooked, chipped, or gapped teeth, Dr. Wendling may recommend porcelain veneers to improve the surface of your front teeth. If your mouth is filled with blotchy, ugly amalgam fillings, Dr. Wendling can replace them with tooth-colored restorations that will look much nicer and help improve the health of your tooth structure.

If you suffer from a gummy smile, a simple gum recontouring procedure can help make sure your gums are in proportion with your teeth. This procedure will also help ensure that you maintain proper gum health.

If your teeth are very crooked but you do not want to endure the hassle, discomfort, and appearance of traditional orthodontics, Dr. Wendling can use Invisalign clear braces to help straighten your teeth.

If you are interested in learning more about our many smile makeover treatments, please contact Portland, Oregon cosmetic dentist Dr. Sue Wendling today to schedule a consultation.

Revolutionize the Treatment of Sleep Apnea

Last Saturday, I had the honor of speaking with a real pioneer in the area of sleep apnea. Dr. David Singh is the originator of the DNA Appliance. The exciting thing about this appliance is that it addresses the most common cause of sleep apnea by triggering the underdeveloped upper jaw to grow, thereby, increasing the airway dramatically. If you ask me, this is going to revolutionize the treatment of sleep apnea. If you were bottle fed as an infant, suffered from allergies or sore throats as a child and didn't have your tonsils and adenoids removed, or had orthodontics involving the extraction of permanent teeth, you may benefit from the DNA appliance.
