Safely Replace Your Metal Fillings

If you have silver or "black" appearing fillings in your mouth, they are half mercury and a mixture of silver, copper and tin makes up the other half. These amalgam fillings were pretty much all that was available a hundred plus years ago. But, there are many inherent problems with these fillings. In addition to mercury being a deadly neurotoxin, these fillings weaken teeth, require a large amount of tooth removal for retention, and since they are not sealed to the teeth they allow decay to form underneath them.

Dr. Wendling uses a porcelain composite material for fillings. This composite resin filling is more natural looking and requires less tooth reduction. Because it is a strong, durable substance bonded to the tooth, it prevents further damage by reinforcing weak teeth. Composite resin fillings can also be used to enhance the appearance of problem teeth. In addition, you won't have a sensitivity to hot and cold after you have a composite resin filling which is often the case with silver mercury fillings.

You can usually replace your metal fillings in one office visit, depending on how many need to be restored. Dr. Wendling will customize the perfect composite to match the natural color of your teeth. Then, after removing the old filling and any damaged tooth material and decay she'll fill the cavity and sculpt the composite to look and feel like your natural tooth.

To learn more about the advantage of composite fillings, please call our office today to schedule your appointment.

Improve Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

If you suffer from chipped, stained, broken, or crooked teeth, chances are you feel uncomfortable about your overall appearance. Inevitably, this affects your self-confidence. Porcelain veneers may be the perfect solution for you.

Fixing imperfections with porcelain veneers is quick and easy, and since the procedure is done under local anesthesia, it's virtually pain free. In just two office visits, you could have the smile of your dreams.

At your initial consult, Dr. Wendling will discuss the options available to fix the problems with your teeth. She'll also help you set realistic goals, and together, you'll create a plan to improve your smile. Once she's established that your overall teeth and gum health is structurally sound, and that porcelain veneers are the best option for you, she'll prepare your teeth and create a mold that will be used in a state-of-the-art laboratory to make customized veneers. You will leave the office that day with a beautiful set of temporary veneers that mimic the smile design she has chosen with your imput. Dr. Wendling calls it a "trial smile."

On your second visit, you'll have a chance to examine your new veneer before we prepare your teeth and permanently attach the veneer. You'll leave our office with a beautiful new smile that you can flash with confidence.

There's no reason for you to suffer because you are unhappy with your smile. Please call our office to schedule your appointment.

Dental Implants

Most people would love to have perfect teeth. It's mostly an aesthetic concern with people who see how bright their smile could be. However, when someone loses teeth, the problem isn't only one of aesthetics, but of function. It's a blow to self-confidence, but it can also make it hard to eat certain types of food and impede speech. One procedure that can remedy the problem of missing teeth is that of dental implants.

Dental implants can solve issues such as:
  • Prevent headaches and jaw pain associated with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD)
  • Fill in gaps caused by missing teeth
  • Keep teeth surrounding a gap from moving in to closed the gap and becoming misaligned
  • Keep the contours of your face the way they should be by preventing jawbone shrinkage characteristic in those with missing teeth.

Dental Implants are set either directly into the jawbone or on the jaw and beneath the gum line. The implant can then support porcelain crowns. This is a permanent replacement.

The dental implant procedure can take several sessions spaced over several months. The amount of time is contingent on how long it takes your jawbone to heal.

If you feel that you may be a good candidate for dental implants, please contact Dr. Wendling to schedule an initial consultation.
