Dental bonding is a term used for both a procedure and the substance used in the procedure. The substance is a tooth-colored, putty-like material and the procedure involves Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Wendling’s skill in shaping and applying it directly to your tooth.
Dental bonding is suitable to correct a variety of problems, including:
- Tooth decay or trauma
- Unevenly sized or shaped teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Stains or discoloration
- Gaps between teeth
Dental bonding procedure
It is done in a single visit to our Cosmetic Dentistry Office. First, your tooth is prepared as necessary, removing any decayed material and texturing the surface to allow a strong, bond with the dental bonding. Dr. Wendling applies the bonding, sculpting and shaping it, sometimes in layers, to repair damage, fill a cavity, and give the tooth a new surface.
A specially calibrated light cures and hardens the bonding, making it strong and permanent. It will blend in with your natural tooth enamel, for a seamless, nearly invisible finish.
