The Invisalign system is a popular option for adults who would like their teeth to be straightened without having to wear unsightly metal braces.
Tooth straightening with Invisalign is convenient and effective. You would wear a series of removable, clear plastic aligners, created according to Portland Invisalign Dentist Dr. Sue Wendling’s plan, which would gradually nudge your teeth into better alignment and transform your smile.
Benefits of Invisalign
- Invisalign aligners are made from transparent plastic material, making them nearly invisible
- Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can take them out for eating and cleaning your teeth
- The Invisalign system is non-invasive, requiring no painful procedures. It does not damage any tooth enamel as braces can
How Invisalign works
The Invisalign system works by using a series of graduated aligners, which you change every one to two weeks. You can remove them any time, but should remove them only to eat and do daily brushing and flossing.
Each aligner gently coaxes your smile a step closer to the final result, moving your teeth closer into alignment. The length of your treatment and the number of aligners will depend on the extent of tooth repositioning needed to achieve your optimal alignment.
The Invisalign procedure
During your initial visit, we will make molds of your upper and lower teeth. Using the Invisalign software, Dr. Wendling will determine how many pairs of aligners will be needed and exactly how they will move teeth in the two-week period each pair is worn. In your next visit, we will give you several pairs of aligners and ask you to wear them in the right sequence.
After about six weeks, you will have a follow-up visit so Dr. Wendling can assess your progress and answer any questions.
Accelerate Your Invisalign Treatment with AcceleDent
Now you can shorten the length of time it takes to get great results from your Invisalign treatment. Dr. Wendling offers patients the option to use AcceleDent. This comfortable electronic device is worn for just 20 minutes a day and delivers electronic vibrations, similar to those you would feel with an electronic toothbrush, to your upper and lower jaw.
These micro pulses stimulate blood flow to your soft tissue and have been clinically proven to speed up Invisalign progress by up to 50 percent. Great news if you would like to shorten the length of your orthodontic treatment for a special occasion like an upcoming wedding or trip.
