“In 2001 I did a face plant on some asphalt and Dr. Sue replaced one of my front teeth with a crown and repaired another with bonding material.  She did such an amazing job that I have people asking me all of the time to distinguish the repairs from my original teeth.  She is an incredible artist.”

Porcelain Crowns

Serving Portland, Lake Oswego, & West Linn, Oregon

Porcelain crowns are a natural looking and versatile option for (a) preserving badly damaged or decayed teeth and (b) replacing missing teeth. In replacing missing teeth, they would be attached to a dental implant or part of a fixed bridge.

Custom manufactured in one of our carefully chosen labs, your porcelain crown can be made with a metal core and an outside layer of porcelain. Most often though, Dr. Wendling uses all-porcelain crowns, which have no metal. Instead they have a porcelain core and are strong and durable.

The porcelain crown procedure

There are two steps:

  1. We will clean out all decay and bacterial debris, and prepare the tooth’s remaining surfaces to bond well with your new porcelain crown. Then we will take a precise custom mold of your tooth, and send it to one of our carefully selected laboratories. It will be the model for fashioning your new crown.
  2. We will thoroughly clean the tooth surfaces, then affix the crown securely, using a specially formulated dental adhesive that bonds the crown permanently to your existing tooth. There might be some minor adjustments to ensure that your crown looks and feels just right.
