Dr. Wendling offers a range of durable, beautiful tooth-colored restorations for all your dental needs. Every dental repair she performs is done to exacting standards.
Unlike traditional metal fillings, tooth-colored restorations are indistinguishable from your natural tooth enamel, so your tooth repair isn't just functional, it's beautiful, and doesn’t shout “dental work” to anybody you smile at.
Depending on the type of restoration you need and on your personal preferences, we offer two general options for tooth-colored restorations:
- Tooth colored composite fillings
- Porcelain restorations (porcelain inlays and onlays, or porcelain crowns for more extensive work)
1. Tooth colored composite fillings
The dental bonding used for these is formulated from resins, glass, and other ingredients to create safe, sturdy, natural-looking restorations. While they offer many benefits over traditional metal mercurys, the procedures are similar. They are both direct fillings. That is, the pliable dental composite is placed directly in your tooth, in layers, until the cavity is filled. Then it is hardened with a curing light. This bonds it to your tooth, strengthening the tooth, and creates a hard, durable surface similar to that of tooth enamel.
2. Porcelain restorations
Porcelain restorations are a sturdy, aesthetic, and long-lasting option for repairing damaged teeth.
Unlike composite restorations, they are known as indirect fillings, meaning that they are created in a lab, from information given by Dr. Wendling. She will take a precise custom mold of the damaged tooth, and send it to one of her carefully-chosen laboratories.
The dental technician in the lab, trained at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI), uses the mold to create your porcelain restoration (inlay, onlay, or crown). Dr. Wendling bonds it to the damaged tooth using a permanent dental adhesive. Your completed porcelain restoration will be indistinguishable from your natural teeth and may last decades if cared for properly.
Dr. Wendling prefers to use dental laboratories that employ LVI-trained technicians as she herself is an LVI instructor, teaching other dentists how to create beautiful porcelain restorations.
